The main idea of initiating Speakers’ Forum as a club was to give the future orators a platform and to normalize nervousness as part of speaking.
“All the great speakers were bad speakers at first" - The ideology of this quote has been followed since the very start of the club and the activities and interactions reflect the same.
Speakers’ Forum made sure each and every individual feels included as well as outperform their stage fear. Various activities including Debates, Group Discussions, Jam, Storytelling and other oratory activities which help the students with literary understanding as well as exploring new point of views are conducted.
Alongside this, conversational group activities are given a major preference where participants share their experience of public speaking as well as explore various topics, out of which few being:
Is there a need to increase literacy around mental health awareness, why is it necessary for all the genders to have equal information about menstrual health, should there be weekends off while working from home, are new Farm bills beneficial, superficiality of Social Media.
Each and every opinion is counted and valued here, to establish a better understanding, various student activities and short bits are also uploaded on Speakers’ Forum social media handle which provides the students a platform to connect with the club and express their view online and involve with other student groups.
Hoomans of GLS is one such social media initiative by Speakers’ forum which helps students to share their story with all the audience. The framing of words, language and content are done by students themselves. The stories help the audience to connect with each other and it also acts as an inspiration
